Pedestrians who, having the right of way, abuse it and do not exercise the due care that is expected of them behave in a similar way. Statistics show that the number of victims of accidents at crossings is still high, which is a social problem in many countries around the world. The main reason for this is that, despite the priority, the pedestrian is deprived of the possibility of clearly and effectively informing drivers of his intention to enter the road.
There is no common system or means of visual communication between pedestrians and motorists in use that would ensure the safety and protection of vulnerable road users on the road. The use of the signaling device at pedestrian crossings minimizes the risk of not noticing a pedestrian before crossing. Every conscious person cares about his safety and in an uncertain situation on the road, he will decide to use the signaling device to be able to cross to the other side faster and safer.
Where it can be used
The signaling device is not a road sign but an auxiliary device, so it can be used practically at any designated pedestrian crossing, except for those where traffic is regulated by traffic lights. Installation of the signaling device is recommended at high traffic crossings, especially near schools, public facilities, shopping centers, communication stations etc. It is also advisable to use a signaling device on thoroughfares, in towns that are divided by a road into two parts. How to use
Very simple operation requiring only a slight downward movement of the handle on the post by the pedestrian. Further operation of the sign is fully automatic. The double-sided reflective rotating disc starts moving and, spinning repeatedly, emerges from behind the covers. The work cycle is set for a time that allows a person to safely cross the road. At the end of the cycle, the disc stops automatically behind the guards in a vertical position, where it is invisible and does not distract drivers.
Technique
The construction in the form of a body made of a typical pipe, allows for the installation of a standard D-6 „pedestrian crossing” information sign. Another important advantage is that you can move the signaling device to another location at any time if it turns out to be more needed in a new place. The device is made of proven, resistant materials protected against weather conditions. Installation is very easy and quick, the signaling device is embedded in the ground at the pedestrian crossing, in the same way as a regular road sign.
